You would have thought it was Christmas the way the kids looked forward to going to Maryland. The kids would keep a running count of “how many days until” and would update it each day. And Kallie would check the calendar daily to make sure someone hadn’t played a trick on her and changed the date. But the day finally arrived and we were off. Natalie has been on a plane before, but never a commercial airliner. And the kids had never been on an airplane ever. So the adventure started there.
Kallie of course can always be counted on to be the worry wart, and wasn’t too fond of the security. She became quite concerned when she found out that drinks could have bombs in them when you didn’t buy them in the airport. That took a bit of explaining to fix. The kids did better than expected on the airplane, and after a very long day of travel with a layover in Phoenix we made it.
We landed at about 11:30PM ET and met Mom and Dad at the airport. I felt bad it was so late because it was so dark, and there was nobody on the roads. The kids had a great time as soon as they saw their grandparents, and were stoked to be able to ride in Grandpa’s truck. Brian got to sit in the front with Grandma and Grandpa, and the fun began with Grandpa, Grandma and Brian all trying to squish each other as dad took all the corners and on and off ramps to get to their house.
It sure felt good to finally be there. And it was great to see Mom and Dad and see the house they live in.
