JR. Jazz 2011

Brian’s first Jr. Jazz season ended last week.  I didn’t post the last few weeks so I figured I would share some of the pictures I took in the last few weeks.  He had a blast playing basketball this year, and is determined that he is going to be a “legend” when he gets older.  He really did do a good job.  I am sure all parents think their kid is the all-star of the team, but I really think Brian was.  He usually averaged around 10 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds a game.  That’s just me averaging, because my camera was usually running whenever he got the ball.  He has definitely improved over the season.  His last game was a hard fought game that his team won.  I think other people share my opinion of his skill because he only got about a minute worth of rest in the game, and his coach kept him in for the rest of the game.  To the completely biased daddy it sure looked like the coach felt like he needed him in.  Here are some of my shots from Jr. Jazz.

(Below: Brian thought that his determination level made him play better.  After the game, he asked me, “Dad, did you see me get mad and then I scored.”)

(Below: Probably one of my favorite pictures I took of basketball this year.  I love how the game is blurring around Brian, but he stayed in focus)

It was a lot of fun to watch basketball this year.  Next on the list is Spring Soccer.  Kallie is begging to be signed up for gymnastics, so we will see what happens with that.  I hope you enjoyed the post.

Photography

I have been waiting to post this for a little bit.  I have taken almost 900 pictures in the past couple of weeks.  It has been rewarding, challenging and fun.  There have been days that the pictures just seem to pop out of the camera, and others where it feels like I have to work for every single pixel.  I have learned some good lessons already, and am learning every day.  I am going to post a few pictures here that I am not putting out there for the world to see, and then I am posting a link to my Flickr profile of the pictures I have put out there for everyone to see.  Keep in mind I am new at this.

Here is the link to my Flickr page;

Here are a few of Camden I shot when we visited Michelle and Brian.  Sorry but when you are so cute you become the target of a camera pretty easy.

(Below: Ray was sealed to his wife in the Logan Temple last week.  They have been married for about 7 years………. I think.  I am really proud that they worked so hard to get to the Temple.  I have to admit when they told me that they would go later, I had my doubts, generally when I hear that it never happens.  Ray beat the odds, and I am proud of him)

A Family Trip to the Jazz Game

Brian is playing Junior Jazz this year and part of the package is a ticket to a Jazz game.  We were able to pick up extra tickets for a really good deal, so we planned a family trip to the Jazz game.  We had a great time, and I am grateful for the opportunity to get out for such fun family events.  I had a great time getting out of Tremonton and having my first opportunity to play with my camera some more.  So 455 shots later here are a couple I wanted to blog with.

(Below:  We showed up early so we wouldn’t have to fight the crowds, we just walked over from the Gateway Mall.  I think there was only about 6 more rows to the top of the arena, but Brian is still happy to be in one of his favorite places on earth)

(Below: Kallie didn’t do as well as Brian waiting for the game, but she sure was happy to have some cotton candy)

(Below: Brian’s favorite Jazz player (and his dad’s) Deron Williams, shoots a foul shot, with the recent politics of the Jazz I was worried about our favorite.  Call me a sucker but I believe it when Deron says we are crazy to think anyone could push Jerry Sloan out of the organization other than Jerry.)

(Below: I have been a Jazz fan for my entire life.  Frank Layden was the coach when I was born, but I don’t remember him as the coach of the Jazz.  I remember him more for the guy that lost a lot of weight than the coach of the Jazz.  Jerry Sloan has been the coach that I grew up with.  I was glad to have the chance to witness one of his last games.)

(Below: I love this shot, Al Jefferson lays it all on the line for a layup.  I love the effort)

(Below: Paul Milsap is another of Brian’s favorites, he has sure played well this year)

It was great to spend time as a family.  The Jazz lost the game, but we still had a great time.  It is a historic season for Utah Jazz fans, and I am spoiled to have been too two games this year.

New Floor

Natalie has wanted new floor for quite a while now, we have bounced around the idea of wood floors and tile floors.  Eventually tile won out.  Natalie is so excited that she feels like Christmas and her Birthday hit the same day.  So here are some before and after shots of the floor.

(Below: This is the carpet that came with the house, it has seen a lot of wear and tear.)

(Below: A glance towards the linoleum, when we tore it up we found out that the installers only put glue on the edges.  It was like someone spread out a blanket and glued the sides down, we are amazed we didn’t have more problems with it.)
