This was my first time experiencing the Pinewood Derby. I have seen the Mormon cliche movies about fathers obsessed with Pinewood Derbies and decided that this was not going to be me. His grandpa cut out the shape, and then I drew lines in pencil where the different paint colors went, and nailed the wheels on. All the other work was done by Brian. And apparently we were the only family that felt that way, because I know for a fact that those cars had a whole lot of dad involved. But, I would do the same thing 1,000 times over again. Brian thought it was cool to get the compliments from the leaders about making his own car.

Brian's car was a replica of my DARE car. He did pretty well with it!

Here is Kallie supporting her brother. I had to take a picture when she was happy for him, because this weeks they have been more mortal enemies than buddies.

Just another shot of him posing with his car.

He had a great time, and won the award for "Best Hero Car". The ward made arrangements for me to give the boys tickets after they were done racing. They were all cited for speed to fast for conditions, learners permit violation, and unsafe lane travel.
I love it. I wish I could have been there. Brian looked so happy and proud. Thanks for being such a good (not crazy) dad. I love that you could give tickets to the kids too. That will be a good memory for all of them. Love you and your crew!
